Earlier this month my family had a scare. Every evening we give our babies a bath and continue with our routine. After bathing my daughter we went to her room to change for the night. My husband undresses our son to bathe him, little did he know that the bathroom floor was still wet, his first step into the bathroom took him gliding and straight to the floor with our son Caleb in his arms. Both were on the floor at this point!
Audrey and I run to see what had happened, I picked up my baby and checked him thoroughly to see if he was hurt, I help my husband up, his arm bright red from the heavy fall, he walked out the bathroom limping and hurt. I had asked him if Caleb hit his head or anything because he seemed ok, my husband told me no, he said that when he landed on the floor Caleb just safely rolled out of his arms to safe ground. I thought to myself how can that be? If I were the one this happened to, my son would have probably flown out of my arms. My husbands quick reaction was to protect our son, and in doing so he would have to fall extra hard instead of extending his arms out to catch his fall. He became my hero at this point.
This reminded me of Jesus, how many times do we deserve to go flying out of his arms yet his love is so great that he keeps us safe in his arms and lands us to safety. This reminds me of Psalms 91:4 “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge… With everything going on in this world today let’s remember we have a God that is willing to embrace us with protection and safety if we let Him.
I like how this HopeFaithPrayer article put it: “Living under God’s shadow is the most protected place in the universe. It takes faith though to stay there, and faith comes only from His word. In the Gospels, the Greek word for ‘salvation’ carries the meaning of ‘physical rescue from harm or danger’ for more than 30% of its usage (17 times). Here in Psalm 91, God’s salvation is likened to bodily protection. Actively live in Him and He will actively live over you. Build this belief into your heart and enjoy this protection in your life. Believe for your whole household.” I encourage you to read all of Psalms 91 and let it minister to you.
Oh I was touched by this! Beautiful read!
