Does anyone warn you how you will feel after having kids? It’s very hard to look back and remember how it felt with no kids when it was just me and the hubby; date night every weekend, watching a whole movie with no interruptions, fitting into jeans comfortably, not abusing the word “no,” Sleeping, oh the sleeping, I forgot how that even feels.
Fast-forward to today and keeping up with my 4 year old feels like a full time job in itself. My 4 year old daughter is the life of the party! She commands attention. She will dance to just about any tune. She is a persistent little girl with mind of her own.
My 7 month old is now crawling and gets into just about anything. I look at my children with their high energy and I remember this moment is just for a season and I have to soak it up. Yes, my house is a loud house these days, and no we don’t go out on dates as often and “sleep” is still a faded memory but I wouldn’t have it any other way, my kids are all mine. I get to have little ones who call me Mommy and who I can be called hero even after putting them on timeout.
We often learn so much from children, how to forgive quickly, love unconditionally, how to be patient and how to have fun with the little things in life. My past before children is a blur but it’s maybe because this is my reality and this is where I was always supposed to be.
As we transition into the new year, I encourage all you mommies to be present in the now! Our babies are babies for just a little while, our kids are just kids for just a short time. Soon you will be sending them off to college and you will be left with only baby photos and memories in your hand. So cheers to a new year and greater memories. And remember to be present in the now. Down below are a few of my favorite memories.
